Now Playing: Top 5

Here are the top five songs that have graced my 'Recently Added' playlist on my iPhone, that have helped to kick off summer!
1) Jack White - 'Love Is Blindness'
I have to admit two things now: one, that this song isn't available on iTunes, and is instead on my YouTube history over and over again, and second of all that I didn't know this song before The Great Gatsby trailer (which is incredible, and I'm so excited about the movie - and if, by chance, you haven;t seen the trailer which is flying round YouTube at the moment, you can see it here (and just if you were wondering, the first song on the trailer is 'No Church In The Wild' by Jay Z and Kanye West)).
Jack White has such an incredible voice, and this cover of U2's 'Love is Blindness' is so amazing! Check out the video from YouTube below:
2) Jay Z and Kanye West - 'Made In America'
This is one of the songs on 'Watch the Throne' that has had very little fame and is rarely played on the radio, but I believe it's one of the best songs on the album, mainly because of it's lyrics. I agree that most of Jay Z and Kanye West's lyrics have some meaning, but this song in particular has very meaningful lyrics (for exampl (off the top of my head) "314 soldiers died in Iraq, 509 died in Chicago). It not only features the incredible voice of Frank Ocean, but also highlights the racism that is still apparent all ove the world (but especially in Chicago). Well worth a listen, and as I'm going to see them live in a few weeks (I'm absolutely chuffed) I thought I'd share the live video from their tour in Montreal:
 3) Imagine Dragons - 'Round and Round'
As you may already have guessed, I have pretty varied music tastes, but I do love indie style music. This song is cute: and it's just perfect for lying out on a sunny day with a cold drink and listening to. There are going to be a lot of songs like that, but then again isn't that what summer's all about?
4) Dragonette - 'Let It Go'
Again, you may be thinking right now that I'm just plucking songs out of a random bag of genres, but this is genuinely one of my favourite songs at the moment (and my music tastes really do span this many genres!). You may remember Dragonette for doing the vocals on Martin Solveig's song 'Hello' from last summer, and that was one of summer's anthems. This song (like 'Hello') motivates me to tan: it sounds stupid, but try lying outside in the deadly silence for three or four hours. You'll soon wish you had a song to keep you company and this is the one!

5) Grouplove - 'Tongue Tied'
After featured on the recent iPod Touch advert, everyone secretly knows this song without really knowing it, you know what I mean? Probably not, but if you've ever seen that advert, when you hear the line 'take me to your best friend's house', you will immediately be ahhing, as you realise that you did know it all along! its again a really cute, lazy and laid back song that's perfect for relaxing and rewinding to!

So there concludes the list for this week. Hopefully you've learnt two things: I really do like all music. When people ask what music I like and I reply with "a bit of everything" I'm not just saying that in case we don't like the same music - I really do listen to everything! And second of all, I'm really bad at explaining emotions - especially when it comes to subconciously knowing a song.

Victoria's Secret.

New store in London? Over the moon. Need I say more?

Millie Mackintosh

At last night's Bafta's, Millie Mackintosh wowed with a pretty stunning white dress. She floated round the red carpet with her beau, Stephen Manderson (aka Professor Green), looking absolutely stunning. Then again, she always looks incredible, doesn't she? Her tan is incredible, her hair is stunning and she is a real natural beauty.
But what was she wearing last night? And who was that dress made by?
The answer: Lanvin. The Grecian style dress with a rope shoulder and pleated shoulders retails at a mere £1,545 (totally affordable right?). Sure, we may not all be able to afford such luxuries, but I know for certain that I can treat myself to glancing at the pictures of it on her as often as I like, pour gratuit!
And if you're lucky enough to be able to afford this dress I would highly recommend splashing out. Not only is it perfect for summer but it's absolutely stunning!

Beauty Buy of the Week: Chanel

As I walked towards the Chanel counter this morning, a fresh tan on my face, I spotted something out of the corner of my eye. I suppose you could describe the moments that followed as a 'love at first sight' moment. I had met the one, the nail polish that would aid me to while away the summer months with a perfect manicure.
Chanel launched their latest range of nail polishes today, featuring 'Delight' (a gold-bronze shade) and 'Holiday' (a rich coral-red). The one that stood out to me though, was 'Island'.
Island is a seashell pink shade, with beige undertones, and like the MAC Suntint I recently evaluated, it will certainly accentuate a tan, and create a bronze goddess-like appearance.
When applied, the colour was quite weak, but after two coats, the colour started to build and after three coats, I really began to enjoy gazing at my nails. The colour has so far matched a simple denim shorts and shirt look (it was too hot to wear anything else!), and I have yet to try it with evening wear, but I'm sure it will match in the same way. It's so versatile: it's casual enough to wear in the day, but the pearly shimmer gives it a dash of brilliance that suits any night out.
I doubt this shade will be leaving my nails this summer, and for the few exams I have left. The only problem I can predict, is the distraction it will provide in my exam. If I haven't stopped looking at my nails tonight, how will I last in a tedious exam?!

Beauty: Hey, Sailor!

MAC (one of my favourite beauty brands) have launched their new collection, which is just in time for the incredible summer weather that we've been blessed with this week!
Hey, Sailor! is a collection of eye shadows, lipsticks, blush and MAC's iconic Lip Glass, which comes in a range of 5 shades, from nudes to scarlet reds, all wrapped up in nautical stripes.
My favourite product however, is their range of Suntints, which are like a liquid lip balm with a hint of colour. They're dubbed as the 'beach bound essential' as they protect the lips from wind, sea and sand, whilst still giving lips a hint of colour and shine.
My favourite shade is Sea Mist, because the gold tones to it make it the perfect colour to combine with freshly tan skin (or a bronzer - depending on whether you spend hours sun worshipping!). Not only will it accentuate a tan, but it won't wash you out as some reds can, and it will make your skin seem more dewy and glowing (which is an absolute must!). The only possible downside I can see to this product is the range of colours. With only three shades, you aren't exactly spoilt for choice. But after all, there plenty of lipsticks and lip glosses also available, so why not later the two? Obviously wait for the Suntints to dry before either applying another layer (to accentuate colour) or applying another Hey, Sailor! product.
See all of MACs new range and the three Suntint lip balms below!

Trend: Friendship Bracelets

Friendship bracelets are incredible: not only are they a symbol of love and friendship (as the name aptly suggests) but they are also the perfect finishing touch to any outfit. They come in the widest variety of colours of any jewellery, but right now, neon bracelets are the it accessory.
So where do you go to find these versatile buys? Obviously, Bimba & Lola have a few nice ones (as in every post of mine Bimba & Lola seem to crop up!) including a rather nice neon number with large diamantés with adds glamour to your look whilst keeping it relaxed (see image below).
But where else can you go? Perhaps to get multiple bracelets which are easily stackable?
BaubleBar have recently collaborated with Man Repeller to create a range of friendship style bracelets, that not only encompass the neon theme, but also skulls, neutrals and sparkle! They're pretty perfect, and what makes them equally as special is that for $50, you are sent 5 bracelets (which means they are all stackable!) according to a few questions you are asked about your preferences. It's an ingenious system! Personally I don't know why I didn't think of it but hey, I guess stuff like this happens...
The only downside to these incredible bracelets, and the fantastic selection process is the shipping. Not to the UK?? How am I supposed to get my fix right now? Personally, I'm a little disappointed. I'd understand if the shipping prices were a little higher, but not shipping them is very disappointing.
So, to anyone in the US, I highly recommend you snap up a set of these bracelets, but to people in the UK and the rest of the world, I'm afraid you'll have to wait patiently until BaubleBar decides to ship to us...

Trends: Pastels

Fear not! After seeing the Chanel Resort 2013 collection on style.com (I don't know what I'd do without that website sometimes), it's safe to say that pastel shades have risen from the ashes like an ice cream coloured phoenix. And during the spell of sunny weather I've been having in England, the sound of ice cream colours is hitting the spot perfectly.
The rules are same, and the players haven't changed, but pastels are here to stay for a little longer than we first thought.. What, I hear you cry, did I fall in love with? Delevigne's baby blue dress. It was love at first sight, baby!

Beauty Buys of the Week: YSL

This week, I bought a Yves St Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres lip stain in 15 Rose Vinyl. It's hard to know exactly how to describe this product as it ticks three boxes perfectly: lip stain, lip gloss and lip stick. The colour is fantastic - with staying power of well over 5 hours (as my own recent study showed), and the colour stays just as strong as it was when it was put on. The only thing that fades with this product is the gloss, which still lasts close to two hours, making it better than any other lip gloss I've used before. The gloss is light on the lips, non-gloopy (as some glosses tend to be), and the best thing about this product? When it's windy, and my hair's down, I no longer have to worry about my hair sticking to my lipgloss, and later, finding sticky areas in my hair. It's incredible, and there's two ways of wearing the lip stain (see photo two). The first way is to apply a liberal amount of 2-3 coats, creating the top look, which is a strong bold colour (which I highly recommend for a night out), but the bottom look is a single layer of the stain, then after wiping off the excess from the brush, running it along the surface of the lips again. It helps to blend the colour, creating a more natural, freshly kissed look that is really flattering in the day, when too much colour isn't necessarily required. Then, throughout the day, repeating this method every 3-4 hours enables this product to last all day without fading, as it continues to stain your lips even when the shine's faded. This product retails at £22.50, so it isn't cheap, but it's such a versatile product that I don't see myself having another lip gloss until the new year.

Now Playing: Foxes

Youth by Foxes has to be one of my favourite songs to come off the TV ever. And I mean ever. After it was featured on Gossip Girl ('Salon of the Dead' 5x20) it made it onto my coveted Best New Music playlist, and as soon as I heard it a few days ago on Made In Chelsea (Season 3 Episode 6), I fell in love all over again.
The vocals are beautiful, and the song has such incredible depth and emotion, so please please please have a listen!
Another song by Foxes that has passed through my musical radar recently is 'Home' which has a similar feel to 'Youth', but has a much more melancholic, but childlike sense to it. It's incredible, and has once again been featured on Gossip Girl recently.

Now Playing - Sub Focus

I have a crazy fascination with this song. 'Out of the Blue' by Sub Focus featuring Alice Gold, is definitely THE song to describe this week for me. When dealing with anger, turning it up and just forgetting everything should be recommended as an effective stress buster by the NHS. And the video? It's intriguing. And I can't help but be incredibly jealous of her ability to open her eyes under the water (something I was never blessed with). Check it out..

Current Obsession: We Are Owls

Lifetime Obsession: Scarves. Not the woolly variety, but the silk or cashmere ones.
I can't get enough of tying them to my bags (which I've been doing for years - so I was chuffed to see MY signature look finally hitting the runways, like at DKNY) or draping them across my shoulders, to finish off an outfit.
So what reason did I have not to be ecstatic when I found THE perfect brand to satisfy my cravings for silk?
We Are Owls is an already established brand, with clientele like Blake Lively (yes, she's one of my favourite personalities). Their scarves are absolutely stunning, and you kind of have to see them to really understand what they're about as a brand. I know that for my next trip to New York, their 'Spring Poem - light' scarf from their s/s '12 collection will be a staple item.

Currrent Obsession: Thakoon for NARS

Francois Nars and Thakoon are frequent partners at fashion weeks, so who wasn't expecting this collaboration? As the NARS website states, the colours are "super vibrant, exuberant color channels the pulsating hues of an Indian spice market for a bold dose of fashion-forward color at your fingertips".
The colours range from icy blues, to vibrant fuscia, and the exclusive 'Lal Mirchi' (first on the left)which is a cinamon-esque colour, with warm spicy undertones. I love them, so I might have to buy one. Or a few. My wish list consists of 'Kukti' (as I'm a sucker for pale blue nail polishes, and it has THE most adorable name! (Second from the right)) and 'Anardana' (because just looking at it is getting me in the mood for slipping on my raspberry bikini and sipping a cocktail! (Second from the left))
