The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald is my favourite book of all time, and it's set in y favourite decade - the 1920's. You can therefore start to understand my excitement when I found out that 'Gatsby Glamour' was a key trend in this month's 'Vogue The Trends'.
The runways of Ralph Lauren collection, Marchesa and Gucci were a feast for the eyes, featuring floor length or knee length gold, white and black dresses, with tasseled detailing and fabulous beading. My favourite show was (by far) the Ralph Lauren Collection show, featuring a stunning floor length dress (modelled by Jourdan Dunn), in a pale gold with tassels from the knee down. This dress stood out to me as one of great potential - this trend is so classic yet still relevant and stunning. For me, this dress personifies the fun and the glamour that summarised the early 1920's, when the Great Gatsby was written. This is what I would imagine one of the lead characters, Jordan Baker, wearing, looking simply divine on her 'golden arm'.
I love the 20's, and the only thing I love more is the variety and the modern adaptations within the Gatsby S/S 12 trend. Here is the style.com coverage of the Ralph Lauren show, and that dress.
